Yes. You need the right to have the paper adapted. That is the case if you or your institution still hold the copyright, if your publishing agreement allows adaptations, if the publisher has given permission, or if the paper is under an open licence that allows adaptations, such as CC BY.

Most authors assign copyright to their publisher, so being the author is not always enough: check your publishing agreement. We cannot accept papers under licences that forbid adaptations or commercial use (CC BY-ND and CC BY-NC). If your situation is something else, tell us when you upload and we will check it before we start.

Yes. Mark it as confidential or embargoed when you upload, with the embargo date. Nothing from a flagged paper is published or used as a sample, it is sent to a language model only on terms that keep no copy and train on nothing, and everyone on our team who handles it sees the flag. You decide when to publish the finished film.

A PDF of up to 25 MB that is not password-protected. Please remove any data that could identify research participants before uploading.

It is used to make your film and nothing else, and deleted 90 days after you accept the film. The privacy policy has the details.

A language model helps draft the script from your paper, and one of our team prepares it. You then review and approve every script before it is rendered. Nothing is made until you do.

An optional add-on. One of our editors, who did not prepare your script, checks it against the paper and signs it off before it comes to you for approval. If the script is revised, it is reviewed again.

It costs £99 per film (£118.80 inc. VAT), and can be added any time before you approve the script. Enterprise teams can instead switch on the review add-on, so that every film submitted while the add-on is active gets human review. Human review is not included in the base enterprise plan.

Human review is a process, a second person's check, not a guarantee. Your approval of the script is always the final check.

One set of changes you ask for, to the script or to the finished film. Every film includes 3 rounds, and an extra round is £59 (£70.80 inc. VAT).

Some things never use a round: the first draft, the first render, approving a script, and fixing a film that does not match the script you approved or that contains our mistake.

We send reminders. A finished film you have not responded to is treated as accepted after 14 days, and a film left waiting on you for 90 days is closed. The terms explain both; neither affects your statutory rights.

You see an estimated date when you order, and your dashboard always shows whether a film is with us or waiting for you. Turnaround is an estimate, and we take on only as many films as we can deliver.

A narrated film with captions, a transcript and a poster image. Once paid for, you can use, publish and share the film anywhere, permanently, including commercially, and the script is yours.

Yes, on the enterprise plan. Send your logo, colours and typeface, and we build your brand pack within 10 working days. If your typeface cannot be licensed for video, we use IBM Plex Sans.

12 months from purchase. The enterprise monthly allowance does not roll over.

If you buy as a consumer, you can cancel within 14 days of purchase. Unspent credits and unused add-ons are refunded in full. For a film already under way, the refund depends on how far it has got: in full before we send the first script, half once the script is sent, and nothing once the film is delivered. The terms set this out in full.

Every film comes with captions and a full transcript, so it works with the sound off and with a screen reader. Text and diagrams are drawn in code, so they stay sharp and legible.
